My wow moment in Ed Tech was the fact that I can actually use technology decently well. I can actually now manage Mac products without freaking out. I have used my iPad 100 times more than I thought I would. It’s part of my daily life. It will be interesting incorporating iPads into a band rehearsal but I’m sure I’ll manage it somehow.

Final Exam Reflection 1

My first favorite thing was the Pinterest assignment. I had a Pinterest account before this class but I never utilized it like I should have until half way through this semester. My second favorite thing was getting to become more familiar with the iPad. I have never used a Mac product until the iPad and I have a feeling I will be required to once I get a job. My third favorite thing was the group work. To be honest, group work is difficult for me. Music is very much self oriented so working with a partner in class almost week was challenging but fun.

App Smashing: 3D Reality

I decided to smash together the app we used in class, colAR Mix with an app called Write About. I downloaded the free version but there is also a full version for $3.99. I took the picture I colored in class and uploaded it to the Write About where I created a mini story for it. This would be a great activity for elementary school kids. There are other apps that you can download 3D pictures and students can create intricate stories either by themselves or with groups.

Reflection: I didn’t particularly enjoy this assignment. It pushed me out of my creativity comfort zone but over all, I feel like I learned something.

Word Clouds and their Application in the Classroom

This was probably my favorite assignment of the semester. I got to focus on two things that I have a passion for, KState and music. I have a feeling I will incorporate these types of projects into my classroom. Either as decorations on shirts or on the walls, or even let my students express how they feel about a certain piece. The possibilities are endless.

My First Movie Trailer Using iMovie on an iPad

As said in the title, this was my first project using iMovie on an iPad. We were given a word to describe without actually saying the word. My partner and I’s was noise. It was actually a pretty fun assignment. We got to walk in and around Bluemont looking for things that made noise. It would be very interesting and slightly difficult to incorporate an iMovie trailer into a music class. I could create a project for a general music class that involved a trailer about a new musical or a composer, that could prove to be interesting.
